Funny Pompom Envelope Hats

Today I delivered these two hats I custom made. I'm open to taking more custom orders in any color combination and in any size. These are great for photo sessions for professional photographers. Order a selection of sizes and colors. I'm going to make a bunch for my daughter's photo studio as well.

They are also very comfortable for every day wear. I love wearing mine!

New Hat and Two New Tutorials on Using the Knifty Knitter Looms

Last night I designed a new hat on my Knifty Knitter so that will be the two tutorials for this week. I'm getting a lot of hits on my other new KK tutorials.

A New Tutorial

Loom knitting tutorial. How to make a flat panel on a circular loom. You can use one panel to make a scarf or sew them side by side to make blankets, lap covers, purses, pillows and other rectangular items.

I just finished this one a few minutes ago so I know you haven't seen it yet.

All Free Knitting and Loom Tutorials

I'm just about to do some more loom knitting tutorials for allfreeknitting.com. They are just launching their channel. I'm so excited that they picked me to participate. I'm already making tutorials for allfreecrochet.com, so one great thing just lead to another. It's so nice to be appreciated.

I'll be embedding the loom knitting tutorials here. Fun, fun, fun. Don't forget to follow my blog.

Knifty Knitter TV Ad

I was watching TV and as usual there are a plethora of holiday ads right now. Imagine my surprise when an ad for the Knifty Knitter came on. The ad was kinda cheesy but I was all excited. And it showed a bunch of projects that got me reinspired to learn new things on my loom. People ask me constantly via my articles on Hubpages and Youtube for more instructional videos on the Knifty Knitter. They want to know how to make everything under the sun. So I need to get with the program and learn to make some new stuff, right?

Knitting Wheel Fashions

I got a new loom knitting book called More Knitting Wheel Fashions by Kathy Norris. This is going to fill in some of the blanks in my knowledge I hope. It has 18 new projects. I'll have to keep my eyes open for Knitting Wheel Fashions, which I assume came out already. This does seem to have pretty clear instructions so we'll see how it goes. It has patterns for scarves, socks and hats and a baby section. It's by Leisure Arts. I've enjoyed many of their books. I really like the black and white checkered scarf on the front cover. Must be a throwback to my days as a mime.

Wooden Knifty Knitter Rip off Looms

I was browsing the booths in Quartzsite AZ when I came to one with a sign that said 'material'. So I beelined it for the entrance.
I instantly spotted some items made on a Knifty Knitter loom. But wait...it wasn't the Provo Craft Knifty Knitter loom. The artisan had obviously taken a set of Knifty Knitter looms and copied them slavishly to make wooden looms. Personally I would much rather have them in wood for period encampments like SCA and primitive gatherings. But it gauls me to the core that this couple ripped off the KK loom designs and made it their own. They even sell the round looms in a set of four just like the plastic looms. And they have the long loom version as well.

Now I know knitting looms have been around a very long time and there are wooden ones out there. And maybe I'll get one some day. I've seen some on Youtube. But sooner or later Provocrafts is going to get wind of those guys and sue their little arses off. Ugh. So needless to say I didn't buy one. Also, wood is heavier than plastic so a little more tiring to use I am sure.

Double knitted yellow scarf

I worked with the pink long loom tonight trying to make some progress on a double knit scarf I decided to call Buttery Sunshine. I can't believe I have two yellow projects going right now and yellow is not even one of my favorite colors. I have this scarf which is yellow ombre yarn double stranded with plain yellow, and I'm also knitting a sweater with yellow double stranded with a multicolored yarn with some yellow in it. I need to finish the scarf because it's part of a tutorial I wrote and people want to know how to take it off the loom and I don't know how yet because I haven't gotten to the end yet. But I knew if I waited until the end to write the tutorial, I could very well forget how I started the beginning in the first place. At least I remembered how to keep going from where I left off many months ago. I really should finish projects faster so they don't fall between the cracks.

Using a Knifty Knitter Loom tutorial (how-to) Circular Tubular Knitting

I'm learning to make tutorials with my very lame video camera. It's decided to only shoot 4:15 at a time, even though it's supposed to shoot 30. So it was a real challenge getting it together.

First you shoot the footage. Then the movie program breaks even the littlest bit into 4 or 5 bits. Then you have to string them all together, add titles and so on, then you have to re-save it as a whole movie on your computer. Then you have to convert it to yet another format that you can upload to Youtube. Then you put it on Youtube, wait and pray that it won't get rejected because it's too long or whatever reason. So even the simplest little video takes so much time. And I haven't even tried to add music yet.

Works in Progress

Even if I don't post here a lot, that doesn't mean I'm not working on many projects. Here are some of the current things on the looms.
The first one is going to be a shrug.
The 2nd one is going to be a scarf.

Got Loom?

I was at Joanne's Superstore today (in Buena Park, CA) and they do indeed still carry the long loom series and the round loom series. So I guess it's really catching on. Which means you can grab one of those 40% off coupons and save some money on the set if you time it right.
